Kate has 20+ years advising clients in the alcohol industry in both Australia and the United States. Kate’s clients range from small to global wine, beer and spirit producers. She also acts for importers, retailers and businesses that provide services to the alcohol industry.

Prior to launching Proof, Kate was a Partner at the Californian law firm Strike & Techel and a Senior Associate at Nixon Peabody in both New York and San Francisco, specialising in alcohol beverage law. She still consults to San Francisco law firm Strike Kerr & Johns Alcoholic Beverage Law. Kate also spent time in Paris as Unit Manager for the Law & Economy Commission of the International Wine Organisation (OIV).

Kate has held senior in-house legal roles at Accolade Wines and the Australian Wine Research Institute. She is also on the Advisory Board for the University of Adelaide Law School and secretary for the University’s Wine Alumni Network, a Non-Executive Director of the Wine Communicators of Australia, and a former Non-Executive Director of the McLaren Vale Grape Wine & Tourism Association.

Kate speaks fluent French, Italian and Spanish, and is a sixth generation member of the Australian wine industry.
